IFMA'S FINANCE AND BUSINESS COURSE
Facility managers oversee significant investments in technology, buildings, structures, and grounds, managing their operation, maintenance, and service contracts. In a dynamic global environment, finance and business management in facility management (FM) are complex and involve:
- Financial management of the FM organization
- Procurement
- Contract-related finances

After you complete this course, you will be able to:
- Explain the foundational principles of managing finance and business in the facility organization.
- Manage the daily financial aspects of the facility organization by understanding key budgeting elements.
- Identify key cost concepts, opportunities for cost containment, and the use of chargebacks in facility management
- Develop business cases backed by relevant documentation and financial data
- Execute procurement and chargeback procedures for the facility organization.
- Manage and oversee contracts within the FM organization.

IFMA'S OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE COURSE
Facility managers oversee the operation of a facility, ensuring its systems, structure, interiors, exteriors, and grounds function efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulations. They must stay knowledgeable about building systems as operations and maintenance evolve due to wear, new regulations, operational changes, and occupant needs. Managing a facility involves constantly adapting to change. (1 of 4 courses that make up the FMP)
After you complete this course, you will be able to:
- Identify the role of operations and maintenance in FM.
- Identify deficiencies in building structures, systems, exteriors, interiors, and grounds, along with related health, safety, security, and environmental risks.
- Describe the elements associated with the acquisition, installation, maintenance, operation, and replacement of assets related to facility management.
- Outline the process for determining and monitoring occupant service performance expectations.
- Detail the steps for developing occupant service specifications, selecting providers, negotiating service level agreements, monitoring performance, and resolving contract disputes.

IFMA'S PROJECT MANAGEMENT COURSE
Facility managers are integral to project management within facilities: overseeing planning, scoping, scheduling, and evaluation. These skills are essential given the variety of projects they handle, each differing in scope, complexity, duration, and financial risk. Facility managers are responsible for organizing, delegating, monitoring, and controlling projects, ensuring the FM organization’s and customers’ interests are represented throughout the project lifecycle. After you complete this course, you will be able to:
- Describe common facility management projects, the roles of facility and project managers, and various project management processes and models.
- Explain the inputs, processes and outputs related to:
- The Initiate phase of a project.
- The Plan phase of a project.
- Acquiring a team and resources and executing and controlling a project.
- Accepting deliverables, closing contracts, and evaluating project outcomes.

IFMA’s Sustainability Facility Professional® (SFP®) is an assessment-based certificate program delivering a professional credential that builds your knowledge to drive efficiency, data-driven decision-making and cost-saving practices for your facility. Learn how to apply innovative ideas to any industry and any building rating system.
Maximize your facility’s efficiency in these five areas of FM:

Spread over three days, students will have the chance to attend in-person training for the first two units of the SFP. The remaining material will be covered, from the same Instructor, through weekly virtual classes, each lasting 90 minutes.

CFM Exam Prep Workshop
This course is limited to those pursuing the IFMA Certified Facility Manager® (CFM®) certification. Join our instructor-led workshop to get familiar with the exam experience. A qualified instructor will guide you through the CFM Exam methodology, providing practical examples and helping you apply critical thinking to your FM knowledge. You’ll practice with sample questions in a simulated, competency-based exam environment. After the course, students will have access to the CFM Practice Exam.
