What is IFMA's World Workplace?
The most longstanding and well-respected annual learning and networking conference geared toward the needs, challenges and interests of professionals who support facilities (FM, IT, PM, HR, engineering, security, real estate, sustainability, energy, etc.). The three-day event features educational sessions, keynote speakers, networking activities, a career fair and an expo.
Who organizes World Workplace?
World Workplace is hosted by the International Facility Management Association, the globally recognized resource for facility management. Supporting more than 24,000 members in 105 countries, IFMA advances the FM practice through education, research, credentialing, government relations, and professional, leadership and standards development.
World Workplace welcomes more than 4,000 attendees from 40 countries and from every state in the U.S. Attendees represent more than 2,000 companies and a range of workplace-related industries. Practitioners, educators, authors, students, government representatives, members of IFMA and partnering organizations, and exhibiting companies attend annually.
World Workplace focuses on topics of interest and concerns of importance to facility professionals. With an established commitment to excellence, World Workplace is renowned for the superior quality of its educational program, the diversity of products and services in the expo, and for providing a supportive and empowering learning and networking experience.
Where & when?
IFMA’s World Workplace 2015 will be held at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado, USA. The conference kicks off Wednesday morning, Oct. 7, and concludes Friday evening, Oct. 9. A number of knowledge- and contact-building activities are held just prior to the event — add options such as IFMA’s Fall Symposium courses (Oct. 3-9), a facility tour (Oct. 6), a Deeper Dive session (Oct. 6) or an IFMA Foundation event (Oct. 6) to your registration.
Any tips for first-time attendees?
We strongly recommend adding the First-time Attendee Orientation to your conference agenda. Held Oct. 7, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., the orientation includes breakfast, an interactive to game to help break the ice and several presentations that will bring you up-to-speed on all conference activities.
How is the educational program developed?
Each session is hand-selected by a committee of distinguished subject matter experts and knowledgeable practitioners to ensure the value and relevance of presented content. The program committee thoroughly reviews each submission received through our yearly Call for Presentations, evaluating the quality and focus of the content, the applicability of the presentation to the FM profession, and the presenter’s experience and qualifications.
What’s the difference between Full Event and Full Event PLUS! registration?
Full Event registration is an all-access pass to conference and expo activities, including the welcome reception, the opening keynote, educational sessions, all networking events and breaks, lunch vouchers, the closing keynote and awards luncheon, IFMA's Awards of Excellence Banquet and online access to the conference proceedings.
Full Event PLUS! includes all of the above features, plus a ticket to the IFMA Foundation Celebration, your CEU processing fee, a facility tour and two drink tickets for the Awards of Excellence Banquet. It’s the best value for those who want to do and see more during their week in Denver.
Is IFMA’s Fall Symposium included in World Workplace registration?
No. If you’d like to attend Fall Symposium courses, you must register for them separately. Held Oct. 3-9, at the Hyatt Regency Denver, the symposium features instructor-led courses for those interested in continuing FM education and/or achieving one of three globally recognized credentials: CFM®, FMP® and SFP®.
Do I need to register for the IFMA Career Fair? Does it cost extra?
Held Oct. 8-9, the IFMA Career Fair is open to all attendees. Participation is FREE, but pre-registration is recommended — employers who are actively recruiting will have advance access to a candidate resume database. Pre-register for the Career Fair »
Do I need to register for the Wellness Class? Does it cost extra?
A certified fitness instructor will lead a wellness class on Oct. 7, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Participation is FREE for attendees and exhibitors, but you must pre-register through the Attendee Service Center to reserve your place in the class.
Do you offer a group discount?
Yes. Groups of five or more from the same company with a single company contact will receive the fifth registration FREE. Please contact an IFMA Customer Service Specialist at +1-713-623-4362 for details.
Can I use a co-worker’s IFMA membership to register at the member rate?
No. IFMA membership is individually based and non-transferable; however, nonmember FM professionals who register for the Full Event or Full Event PLUS! receive a complimentary one-year membership in IFMA and your local IFMA chapter.
Is member pricing only available to IFMA members?
Members of the following organizations qualify for member rates: IFMA, AIA, ASBE, ASID, BIFM, BOMA, BOMI, EuroFM, FMA, GLOBAL FM, IIDA, SAME and USGBC. To attend at member rates, you must be a member in good standing of IFMA or a partnering organization and have paid your annual dues by the time of registration.
What is your cancellation policy?
IFMA reserves the right to cancel an event due to low enrollment, unforeseen factors or any other reason making it practically or economically inadvisable to conduct the event. If the event is cancelled, registrants will be notified as promptly as circumstances permit; although, IFMA cannot be liable for any failure to notify. IFMA cannot be responsible for any other costs, losses or inconveniences that a registrant may incur, such as cost of transportation (plane, train, rental car, etc.), hotel cancellation fees, reservation fees, lost pay, vacation or leave time, etc.
What is your refund policy?
Full refunds or transfers will be granted for cancellations received in writing to IFMA up until three (3) months before the event. A 50% penalty plus US$50 administration fee will be applied to cancellations received in writing to IFMA three (3) months to five (5) weeks before the event. Refunds will not be granted within five (5) weeks of the event. A one-time transfer to either another co-worker or to another IFMA event in the next calendar year is permissible. No monetary refunds will be given. Refunds and transfers will not be given for no-shows after the conference.
I’m traveling from outside the United States — what do I need?

Citizens of certain countries must have an invitation in hand before they can obtain a passport from their government and apply for a U.S. entry visa. International attendees requiring a letter of invitation may email a request to IFMA Member Services at firstname.lastname@example.org.
What’s the recommended dress code?
We want you to be comfortable so that you can fully enjoy your experience. Business casual attire is strongly encouraged. We suggest bringing a light sweater or jacket with you during the day as the rooms are air-conditioned. “Snappy casual” is suitable for events such as the IFMA Foundation Celebration and Welcome Reception. IFMA’s Awards of Excellence Banquet is black-tie/cocktail preferred.
Will transportation be provided during the conference?
All official hotels are within walking distance of the convention center. Click here for walking directions from each hotel to the Colorado Convention Center. Complimentary shuttle service will be provided to/from Wednesday’s Welcome Reception, and to/from the following hotels for Friday’s Awards of Excellence Banquet: Marriott, Grand Hyatt and Sheraton.
What are the official hotels, and how do I book my room?

Does World Workplace have an app?

Is there assigned seating at the sessions or special events?
All seating is general admission — first-come, first-served.
- For educational sessions, we recommend selecting two in each timeslot in case the room for your first choice fills up.
- The Opening Keynote is held in an auditorium, ensuring enough seating for all attendees.
- Seating for the Friday afternoon awards luncheon and Friday evening awards banquet is general admission; however, honorees are assigned reserved tables close to the stage.
Is the Welcome Reception fun?
Yes! The evening reception is a great opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, meet new friends and experience an iconic Denver venue. Held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., on Oct. 7, at the legendary Grizzly Rose nightclub, the event features food, drinks, dancing and entertainment by award-winning country band Sawyer Brown. Attire is casual or “rodeo chic.”
What if I my phone dies? What if I get a nasty paper-cut?
For your comfort and convenience, on-site services include:
- Cell phone charging stations;
- Medic on duty near registration during all hours of the event;
- Business center (shipping, mailing, faxing, photocopying, printing);
- Information counters (for questions about the conference or local attractions);
- Computer terminals (manage CEUs, evaluate sessions, access the Attendee Service Center).
Can I schedule an interview with a Career Fair recruiter ahead of time?
Yes. Online registration will be available to candidates for scheduling interviews prior to the event.
What is the IFMA Foundation, and what’s it doing at World Workplace?
The IFMA Foundation and its supporters view academics and research as critical strategies in enhancing the FM profession. The Foundation relies on private funding to carry out its mission to promote higher FM education, provide scholarships to FM students and support research critical to the FM profession. By participating in Foundation events at World Workplace, you make a significant contribution to programs that directly benefit the FM profession.
You took a picture of me and put it on a mailer — is that cool?
Yes. By registering for World Workplace, you authorize IFMA the right to photograph and/or videotape you, and to use the photographs/video in all formats and media for any purpose, including but not limited to education, marketing and trade. Registrants hold harmless and release IFMA from all claims arising out of the use of photographs/video, including without limitation all claims for compensation, libel, invasion of privacy or violation of copyright ownership.
Do you practice sustainability at the event?
Yes. IFMA is committed to promoting sustainable business practices and minimizing our carbon footprint at every event.
- Bins are located throughout the convention center for recycling papers, used cans/bottles and conference name badges for reuse at future IFMA events.
- Post-conference panel notes, presentations, proceedings and session evaluations are available online.
- Table centerpieces, foam core and other surplus materials and supplies are recycled or donated to a local school or charity.
- We provide reusable mugs or eco-products, reusable silverware and/or cornstarch compostables; we use locally grown or fair trade products as often as possible; and surplus catering is donated to a local charity.
