About IFMA’s World Workplace

Held annually in cities across the U.S., World Workplace is the most longstanding and well-respected learning and networking event for facility management and related professions.

World Workplace facilitates idea-sharing and knowledge-exchange between all professionals who support the work environment. Collaboration between all members of our community is key to our profession’s rise as a career of choice. We have many resources at our fingertips; but in today’s digital world, a swipe of the finger can’t replace the handshake of a colleague.

Collaborate to Innovate in 2015

We’re trendsetters, go-getters, visionaries, achievers. Our drive and talent, determination and focus, and commitment to excellence have propelled our industry’s unprecedented growth. Each year, we come together to discuss and discover:

  • resourceful solutions to common facility challenges;
  • achievable strategies that will get the attention of customers, supervisors and colleagues;
  • best practices for managing facilities, teams and projects;
  • new skills, fresh perspectives and a renewed outlook on our future.

IFMA Celebrates 35 Years as the FM Thought Leader

Established in 1980, the International Facility Management Association is the world’s largest and most widely recognized association for facility management professionals. IFMA supports more than 24,000 members in 94 countries. Our members manage more than 37 billion square feet of property and purchase more than US$100 billion in products and services annually.

Sustainability at World Workplace

IFMA is committed to hosting a conference that promotes sustainable business practices and minimizes the carbon footprint of the event. We encourage our attendees, partners, exhibitors and sponsors and to join us in reducing our carbon footprint through the following actions:

Recycling: Drop unwanted papers, used cans and bottles in recycling bins located throughout the convention center. Drop your conference name badge in recycling bins for reuse at future IFMA events.

Go Paperless: Take electronic notes. Exchange contact information with a Smartphone app. Access session handouts, post-conference panel notes, proceedings and session evaluations on the World Workplace website.

Conference Surplus: Following World Workplace, table centerpieces, foam core, and other materials and supplies are donated to a local school or charity.

Food/Catering: As often as possible, disposable cups are replaced with reusable mugs and/or eco products. Disposable cutlery is replaced with reusable silverware and/or cornstarch compostables. Trash bags are compostable/biodegradable. Locally grown purveyors or fair trade products are used when available. Surplus catering is donated to a local charity.

Travel/Carbon Offsets: Travel is a necessity for many of our attendees and exhibitors. Some companies and organizations have internal sustainability strategies in place. If you would like to calculate your carbon footprint in this area of sustainability, you’ll find the following links helpful:

Colorado Convention Center

The CCC creates sustainability programs that are accessible, inclusive and encourage participation of all stakeholders. The CCC’s goal is to erase the line between a “regular event” and a “green event” by making all events held at the convention center sustainable. The CCC was recently certified as a venue that meets the ASTM Environmentally Sustainable Meetings, Events, Trade Shows and Conferences (E2774-11).
